We provide a wide range of services that when combined create a holistic addiction recovery and wellness plan developed to meet and surpass each individual’s unique needs. The purpose of our individualized plans is to initiate and support recovery while enriching an individual’s life, making recovery even more worthwhile. Just as we support our clients in their endeavors, we also support our staff in continued personal growth so that we may provide the highest quality services available.
Thrive Recovery & Wellness is a Dallas-based company providing holistic peer-support services to those struggling with addiction and failure to launch in the Dallas/Fort Worth (Dallas, Plano, Ellis County) area.
Sammy started using and abusing alcohol and drugs at the age of 13 and continued to do so throughout a large portion of his life. Although it didn’t stick for various reasons, he first started his journey in recovery at the age of 20. The following years were riddled with trial and error, success, and failure. While these failures are not a pre-requisite for a life in recovery, he began to use the lessons learned to help others not make the same mistakes.
Sammy obtained his Bachelor of Science in Marketing and International Business at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. While there he became certified as a personal trainer through the National Academy of Science and Medicine. After graduation, he moved to Dallas, TX to begin his career in Marketing. There he had begun to create a career worth pursuing before being called to help others who suffer from the same disease as himself.
The conscious decision was made to drop everything he had been working on for the past 6-7 years of his life and follow his passion to help others like himself. He began working in the field of addiction at Chapter House Recovery in Richardson, TX under the guidance of program director, Doug Beard. This would be the foundation. An opportunity to work with some of the hardest and most complex cases in the field.
While working at Chapter House Sammy completed the Texas Department of State Health approved training at Spectrum Recovery, in Dallas, TX under Brian Lane, to become a Nationally Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) through the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals. Since those first years Sammy has moved on to work with Innovation 360 under Dr. Kevin Gillian and some of the best minds in the field. He has trained under Dr. Judith Landau to administer the A.R.I.S.E Invitational Intervention model. Sammy is certified through Red Cross to administer First Aid, CPR/AED. He is a member of both NAADAC and Dallas Texas Association of Addiction Professionals. Currently, he is working on being credentialed as a Certified Career Services Provider and Global Career Development Facilitator through the National Career Development Association under Linda Sollars, an established innovator within the career development world.
At Thrive Recovery & Wellness we want to create a goal-oriented program that focuses on not only establishing and maintaining sobriety but thriving in recovery. While we may have already developed a program, we stay in the present tense and say things like “want to create a program” because we believe in constant learning, evaluation, and betterment. No program is perfect; however, we actively strive for it. To help our partners in recovery attain this success and fulfillment, we focus on physical, mental, and spiritual health along with the added component of career development.
While we use our experience, passion, and knowledge to help others build a life free from drugs and alcohol there is much more to recovery than abstinence. A fulfilling life includes taking care of ourselves – mentally, physically, and spiritually, helping others, exploring new paths, setting and reaching goals, and overcoming obstacles. Thrive was founded on these principles, to help others find the same fulfillment and happiness and to learn how to not just be sober, but to live a sober engaged life! Whether it be mountain biking, fellowship, community involvement, meaningful work and progress, fitness, dieting, camping, hiking, etc…, all play important roles in recovery. Our job is more than teaching someone how to stay sober; it is about teaching them how to thrive in recovery and life.
